John Walter Reed

John Walter Reed, age 77, of Bruce, Mississippi formerly of Gatesville, Texas passed away Friday, December 5, 2014. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, Texas. Walter was born on June 21, 1937 in Oglesby, Texas to John Baxter Reed and Clara Walter Reed. He attended school in Moody and Gatesville. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Within his profession of road construction, he was known as the legendary Walter Reed. He married Sarah Vance on February 7, 1993 and they were married 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Donna Faye Reed. Walter is survived by his wife, Sarah Reed; sons, William Terry Reed and Jon Charles Reed, both of Gatesville; daughter, Kathy Leah Zacha of Gatesville; sister, Nancy Johnson of Oglesby; brother, James Baxter Reed of Gatesville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two step-children.
