Alma Dean Parker Ray, age 90, of Evant passed away Friday, December 19, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Evant. Burial will follow at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Evant. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville. Alma Dean was born to Milford and Minnie Nichols Parker on January 4, 1924 in Bell County, Texas. She was married to Robert Ray on January 20, 1940, and made her home in Evant, Texas for 60 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Evant. She was a hard worker. She worked for Patty’s of Texas Clothing Manufacturing in Hamilton, Texas, Gatesville State School for Boys, and the Evant Independent School District, where she retired after 22 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Ray; sister, Doris Dockery; and brother, Richard Parker. Alma Dean is survived by her daughter, Frances Clary and husband, Armand of Evant; son, Ronald Ray and wife, Linda of Purmela; sisters, Bonnie Boggs of Florence, Texas, Nettie Boales of Killeen, Texas, and Linda Shahan of Killeen; brothers, Milford Parker of Alto, New Mexico and Nick Parker of Killeen; five grandsons; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
