Juanita Swift, age 96, of Gatesville passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 in Gatesville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Wheat officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 14th from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Juanita was born on August 30, 1918 in McLennan County, Texas to the late Tilmon Grice Hall and Maynie Olive Standifer Hall. She attended school in Crawford and graduated from Crawford High School. She married Claud W. Christian and he preceded her in death in 1948. She later married Euell Swift in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1987. She also was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Swift in 2005. She moved to Gatesville in 1946 and owned and operated Swift Grocery Store in Gatesville. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #1007 and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gatesville. She enjoyed playing Bridge, square dancing, and taking trips with her family at Lake Powell, Utah. She is survived by her daughters, Claudette Christian Lawrence and husband, Larry of Huntsville and Carolyn Christian Hedgpeth and husband, Ben of Niwot, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Koni Swift; two sisters, Fay Wyatt and Ray Anderson; six grandchildren, Shelly Swift, Kelly Whitney, David Lawrence, Susan Bennett, Chad Hedgpeth, and Brad Hedgpeth; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials have been designated to the First Presbyterian Church, 1110 E. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528, Coryell Memorial Foundation, 1507 W. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528, or Shriners Hospital Galveston, 815 Market St., Galveston, TX 77550-2725.
