Bobby Dean Jones

Bobby Dean Jones, age 79, of Gatesville, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015. A private burial will be held followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home, 2425 E. Main St. in Gatesville. Bobby was born on October 12, 1935 in Gatesville, Texas to Herschel Jones and Gladys “Dollie” Walker Jones. He attended school in Weslaco, Texas and Gatesville, Texas. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1954, and then served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He attended and played football at Tarleton State University and Midwestern State University. Bobby married Jane Sadler on July 3, 1958. He worked for Anchor Plastics which later became Deck Boat, Inc., and then was co-owner of Killeen Boats & Motors and Gatesville Boats & Motors. He enjoyed golf, boating, and following his son’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was active in Gatesville Jaycee’s, and a longtime supporter of Gatesville High School Athletics and the Gatesville Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Dollie Jones; sisters, Mert Hood and Jo Dyer; and brother, Gordon Jones. Bobby is survived by his wife, Jane Jones; sons, Richard Jones and wife, Yvette, Brian Jones and wife, Sandy, Philip Jones and wife, Kim, and Robert Jones and wife, Marsha; and grandchildren, Bobby Jones, Amy Jones, Brooke Jones, Raquel Jones, and Jackson Jones.
