Jean Davis

Jean Davis, age 85, of Gatesville passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chad Bertrand officiating. The family will receive visitors following the service at the funeral home. There will be a private family burial. Mrs. Davis was born on December 12, 1929 in Victoria, Texas to the late Jim and Ethel O’Neill Gibbons. She grew up in Victoria and graduated from Victoria High School. She married Homer Davis, Jr. on June 7, 1947 in Victoria. They moved to Gatesville in 1969 and became involved in the community. She was a devoted and faithful member of First Baptist Church. She also was a member of Coryell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered countless hours. She was active with the HEB Retiree’s Association. She and Homer enjoyed 61 years of marriage and traveling in the United States and Europe before he passed away in 2008. She is survived by her daughters, Jayne Mitchell, Marci Hall, and Vicky Hunt and husband, Russ; three grandchildren, Whitney Kent, Bryan Ballard, and Russell Hunt; six great-grandchildren. Memorials have been designated to First Baptist Church, 912 E. Main St. Gatesville, TX 76528 or to one’s favorite charity.
