Vera Grubb, age 80, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Restland Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation. Vera was born on May 5, 1934 in Talihina, OK to the late Clarence and Hallie Akins Pearce. At the age of 7 her family moved to Gatesville and she attended school here. In 1952 she graduated from Gatesville High School. While in school she met Carl Grubb and they later married on September 6, 1952. They spent most of their life working side by side together, serving the communities of Evant and Gatesville. Vera was one of the best seamstresses around and for years she owned her own fabric store in Evant and Gatesville. Later she and Carl founded The Parrot in Gatesville which was her love. Vera loved the Lord and it showed in her actions and her love for people. She was a member of First Baptist of Evant for over 50 years where she played the organ, taught Sunday School, and gave her all. The last couple of years, after moving to Gatesville, they attended Eastwood Baptist Church. Vera will always be remembered for being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Wayne Otto Pearce. Vera is survived by her husband, Carl Grubb of Gatesville; children, Ronnie Grubb and wife, Casey of McGregor and Cindy Velasquez and husband, Victor of Gatesville; brother, Quinton Pearce and wife, Shirley; grandchildren, Mindy Smith, Abbey Hunt, Clark Keller, and Bethany Baker; great-grandchildren, Reese Smith, Chloe Keller, Engel Keller, Hayden Hunt, and Julian Martinez.
