Bobby Lynn McCorkle of Burleson, Texas passed away on February 17, 2015 at the age of 78. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Turnersville Cemetery, north of Gatesville and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Pathway Cumberland Church (formerly St. Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian Church) at 325 NW Renfro St., Burleson, TX. 76028. There is no visitation. Bobby (known as Bob to many) was born November 8, 1936 to the late Earl and Vida Watkins McCorkle in Coryell County, TX. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in May 1955 and married Bette Campbell on June 8, 1957 at the Jonesboro Methodist Church. After 5 years of employment with Gulf Oil in Port Arthur, TX and serving in the United States Army Reserve, Bob entered Texas A&M University and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. Bob then began his 30 year career with Texas-New Mexico Power Company where he worked in economic development and other areas related to agriculture until his retirement in 1995. Bobby was an active member of St. Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian Church (now Pathway Church) for 28 years and was involved in several areas of the church. He loved spending time with his family and keeping up with the activities of his five grandchildren. Fishing brought him much pleasure whether it was at a local lake, Texas Gulf Coast, or Toledo Bend Reservoir with his brother Gene. In addition, Bob enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Evelyn McCorkle, Truman McCorkle, Monroe McCorkle, June Garner, Garland McCorkle, Valeta Barron, and Juanita McCorkle. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bette McCorkle; daughter, Gina McCausland and husband, Ross; son, Dean McCorkle and wife, Angela; five grandchildren, Jared, Evan, and Alex McCausland and Madison and Sydney McCorkle; brother, Gene McCorkle and Russie; sisters-in-law, Mary McCorkle, Helen McCorkle, and Pat Campbell; brothers-in-law, Maurice Campbell and Tony Campbell and wife, Annette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
