Penetha Cox

Penetha Cox, 79, of Leon Junction passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Gatesville. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Penetha was born on December 23, 1935 to the late Robert and Velma McLauchlin Cathey. She attended school in Turnersville. Penetha worked at Walls in Gatesville for many years. She married Oney Cox on April 29, 1977. She was a faithfully member of the Mound Cowboy Church. Penetha was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Robert Lee “Pee Wee” Cathey; and her step mother, Viola Cathey. She is survived by her daughter, Talitha Manning and husband, Doug of Gatesville, step-children, Oney S. (Tooter) Cox of Gatesville, Melody Taylor of Odessa; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and special friends, Kathy Brase, Brittani Brase and Staci Brase Kinnear of Leon Junction. The family wishes to express thanks to the staff at The Meadows and Gentiva Hospice for their care during her illness.
