Joyce Marie VanDyke Mensch, age 87 of Gatesville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ric Hodges officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Gatesville City Cemetery. Joyce was born on May 30, 1927 in Coryell County, to the late Charley and Canelia (Neely) Moore VanDyke. She grew up in Oglesby, the Turnover community and Gatesville. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1944. She married Vennis Irvin Mensch on June 16, 1946 in Gatesville. They lived most of their married life in Gatesville. They placed their church membership at Live Oak Baptist Church and were dedicated, serving members for 60 years. Joyce loved serving the Lord and taught Sunday school for 53 years. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Jewell Edwards, Joe VanDyke, Myrtia Hughes, Gladys Franklin, Verna Lee Veazey, J.C. VanDyke, and M.B. VanDyke. Survivors include her beloved husband of 68 years, Vennis; two daughters, Connie Ginther and husband, Jerry of Gatesville and Linda Jones of Lorena; one son, James Mensch and wife, JoAnn of Manchaca; loving niece, Frances Norman and husband, Troy of Burleson; 10 grandchildren, Tracy Moak, Jimmy Jones, Janette James, Warren Ginther, Charles Mensch, David Jones, Cynthia James, Billy Mensch, Rebekah Mensch, and Jeremy Ginther; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials have been designated to Live Oak Baptist Church, 113 FM 107, Gatesville, TX 76528.
