Lavell Lam, age 84 of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kurt Fuessel officiating. There will be no set time for visitation. Interment will follow at the Mound Cemetery. Lavell was born on January 17, 1931 in Clarendon, Texas to the late R.C. and Vida Muncey Williams. She grew up in and around Amarillo. She married Jack Lam in 1949. They resided in Lubbock for many years and moved to Gatesville in 1970. She worked at the Gatesville State School for Boys and the Hilltop Unit for TDCJ for many years, retiring in the late 90’s. She was a member of Mountain Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and mother; she enjoyed fishing, square dancing, and going to senior dances. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Curtis Lam. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack Lam; sons, Gene Lam and wife, Robbie of Gatesville, Stan Lam and wife, Florine of Friendswood, Jim Lam and wife, Carla of Gatesville; sisters, Ruby Builderback and husband, Toby of Amarillo, Wanda Johnson and husband, Johnny of Mineola, Virginia Winters and husband, Fred of Amarillo; brother, Paul Williams and wife, Jane of Arlington; nine grandchildren, Becky Morgan, Amy McGowan, Jeff Lam, David Lam, Sarah Lam, Jessica Wade, Devon Nye, Chelsea Brown, Makayla Brown; and numerous great-grandchildren.
