Lonnie Elmo Dossey, Sr. age 85, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015, Rev. A.C. Painter officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Lonnie was born on June 19, 1929 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Irene Fay Pipes Dossey and Loyce Leonard McClendon. He attended school in Gatesville and served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1953 during the Korean War. During his service he received five Bronze Stars, one with valor for heroism along with five campaign ribbons, combat infantry badge and the Korean Service Medal. He retired from T.D.C.J. after 20 years and was a long haul truck driver for many years. Mr. Dossey was a Mason and member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was preceded death by his parents; wife, Donna; two brothers, William Dossey and Loyce Edward McClendon; and two sisters, Wilma Dossey Emert and Jean Dossey. Lonnie is survived by his daughters, Vickie Davis and husband, Jim of Huntsville, Dez Langston and husband, Kirk of Gatesville, and Luanne Dossey of Gatesville; sons, Lonnie Dossey Jr. of Gatesville, Ronnie Dossey and wife, Melinda of Oglesby, Jeremy Dossey and fiancée, Jennifer of Gatesville, and John Dossey and fiancée, Angie of Gatesville; sister, Florhea Wright of San Antonio; brother, Les Dossey, Sr. of Smyrna, Tenn.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
