Nell Moore

Nell Moore, 82, of Gatesville passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2015. Graveside Services will be at 2 PM on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Davidson Cemetery with Rev. Hemphill officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Sunday at Scott’s Funeral Home. Nell was born in Gatesville, Texas to the late Eli Taffinder and Irene Tatum Taffinder. Her mother later married Charlie “C.C.” Rainer and Nell thought of him as her dad. Nell married Cecil “Smokey” Moore, July 28, 1951. They lived in and around Coryell County all of their married life. She worked for Graves Florist and Walls Manufacture as an inspector for many years. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, loved watching bull riding, and listening to country music, especially Willie Nelson. Nell and “Smokey” attended many rattlesnake shows all around the state of Texas before his death. Nell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “Smokey” Moore; son-in-law Rolland Laxson; sisters, Donna Reed, Tillie Hamilton, Geneva Blakley; and a brother Don Rainer. Nell is survived by her daughter, Patty Laxson of Lorena; two granddaughters Jana Reed of Waco and Jeanie Vinson and husband, Jay of Colorado; two great granddaughters, Alex and Olivia Vinson of Colorado; sister, Gwen Watson and brother, Joe Pat Rainer both of Gatesville and numerous nieces and nephews.
