Rebacca Gregory, age 85 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 in Gatesville, to be with her God and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 at at Scoot's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Gatesville City Cemetery, with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating. She was born the youngest of eight children, on September 27, 1929 in Corsicana, Texas to the late Oscar Clay and Elizabeth Hodge Boyte. She grew up and went to school in Corsicana until she met and married Cleo John Gregory. She was crazy about him and was a devoted wife, staying by his side until his death after 53 years of marriage. She and her husband had a hard life, but a good one and raised three children. She worked hard and had little, but never complained. She loved her family very much and missed her siblings and spoke of them often. She was a quiet and shy woman, who always laughed when she talked and was happy as long as she was with her soulmate. They were good to each other and Cleo would “humor her”, as he called it. They settled in Glen Rose in 1954 and lived there over 20 years, moving to Gatesville. She lived alone, with her little dog until last year when she moved to The Meadows, due to failing health and dementia. She made it her home and the staff said she was the “sweetest thing”, never complaining and always had a smile for all of them. She was a Christian and a God fearing woman, never picky and appreciated anything someone gave her, no matter how little it was. She was also preceded in death by her seven siblings; her only son, Thomas Gregory; daughters, Wanda Garner and husband, Otis, Martha Fay Gregory; granddaughter, LeAnn; and a great granddaughter, Krista West. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ann Boyte and her husband, Larry Townley; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
