Wanda Jane Dellis, age 86, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Dr. Chad Bertrand officiating. Burial will follow at Pidcoke Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Wanda was born on June 15, 1928 in Wichita Falls, TX to James Fortner and Elsie Jane Cherry Fortner. She attended school in Wichita Falls, TX and graduated from Kearny High School in San Diego, CA. She married Kenneth Dellis on July 7, 1946. She worked for Mesa Community College in San Diego, California in food service and retired after 23 years. She moved to Gatesville in 2003 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gatesville where she was the church librarian for many years. She volunteered at Coryell Memorial Hospital for several years. Throughout her life, she collected postcards, was an avid reader, loved to crochet, and do handwork. She loved her Lord, family, friends, and her church family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dellis; parents, James Fortner and Elsie Jane Fortner; and a brother, James Fortner. Wanda is survived by her son, Jimmie Dellis and wife, Darla of Blythe, CA; daughters, Sarah Haglund and husband, Marty of Rice Lake, WI and Debbie Dilley and husband, David of Gatesville; sister, Sandra Reynolds and husband, Royce of Electra, TX; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Tim Maynard, to Sharon Greer, and the entire staff at The Meadows including Gentiva Hospice, for the support and care they provided.
