Preston Gotcher, Jr.

Preston Gotcher, Jr., 86, of Gatesville passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Waco. Graveside Services will be at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Preston was born on April 9, 1929 in San Antonio, TX to Preston Sr., and Irene Wiley Gotcher. He attended school in San Antonio before joining the Merchant Marines and later joined the United States Army during High School. Preston faithfully served in the Army for over 20 years before retiring. While stationed in Korea he met and married Yong Cha Chung in 1962. After retirement they moved to Gatesville and he worked for the State School for Boys and later for TDCJ and retired again after 15 years. Preston will be remembered for his love for his family, his country and for fishing. Preston was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Lois Elaine Gotcher. Preston is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yong Gotcher; son, H.C. Gotcher; daughter, Linda McCarver and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Bradley Brock, Jennifer Pinkerton and husband, Josh, Tyler McCarver and wife, Kristen and 4 great-grandchildren.
