Billy F. Haines, age 84, of Gatesville passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Jimmy Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Purmela. Billy was born in Purmela to Frank G. Haines and Vida Mayberry Haines on October 4, 1930. He grew up in Purmela and attended school in Evant, Purmela, and Gatesville. He then went on to school in Fort Worth, receiving a technical certificate. On May 26, 1961, Billy was united in marriage to Beth Burt. He worked as a cable technician at Cable Vision in Gatesville for over 10 years. He then went to work for Centel Telephone Company in Killeen, retiring at the age of 63. Billy enjoyed farming and ranching and taking his grandkids fishing at the farm. He also enjoyed listening to gospel music, the Gaither’s, and watching westerns. He especially loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Johnny Watkins Sunday School Class and a member of Purmela Baptist Church. Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Beth Haines of Gatesville; three daughters, Pam Hopson and husband, David of Mound, Tammy Roe and husband, Kevin of Glen Rose, and Patti Thompson and husband, Billy of Longview; sister, Robbie Neta Menn of Yorktown; nephews, Paul and Bill Menn of Yorktown; eight grandchildren, Kelli McPherson, Shelby Gibbs, Amanda Cargill, Lindsey Oh, Paul Hopson, Chase Roe, Collin Thompson, and Trent Thompson; and four great-granddaughters, Kinsley, Anna, Allie, and Addison. Pallbearers are grandsons, Chase Roe, Paul Hopson, Collin and Trent Thompson, Allen Oh, Mark McPherson, and Mike Cargill. Honorary Pallbearers are the Johnny Watkins Sunday School Class.
