Thomas Eugene Edmond, 68, of Mosheim passed away with his wife at his side on Friday, May 29, 2015 in Temple. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 1, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Gatesville with private burial following at Hemmeline Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the funeral home. Eugene was born on November 25, 1946 in LaFollette, TN, as the third of five children born to the late Willard Lee and Geneva Housley Edmond. He spent his formative years in LaFollette, TN, and in Metz, France. He lived his teenage years in Copperas Cove, TX where he graduated from High School in 1965. Eugene entered the United States Army shortly thereafter and served as a demolition expert during Vietnam in 1966 and 1967. He returned home and married Joyce Patterson in December 1967. Within a few weeks of marriage, Eugene was called back into service with the Gatesville Army Reserve Unit and served another year. He and Joyce made a home in Temple, TX where he started college. They moved to Ft. Worth for a short time before settling in Moshiem, where he worked for Greyhound Bus Lines. Eugene later started his own freight service company in Austin, TX and provided a great life for his family with many personal sacrifices. Eugene was a member of Mosheim Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Gatesville and served as a deacon in both churches. Gene loved missions, loved teaching the Experiencing God series and recommended the study for all. He taught this study in churches, youth prisons, small groups all over the US and in South Africa. Gene lived out his faith through his generosity, kindness and his great love for others. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Edmond; and sister, Elaine Edmond Sellers. Eugene is survived by his wife, Joyce Patterson Edmond; children, Sami Edmond Langley, Kelli Edmond; Tommy Edmond and wife, Wendy; grandchildren, Emily and Sam Langley; sisters, Judy Dungan Fischetto and Wanda Royer.
