John F. Wensorski, age 71, passed away Saturday January 10, 2009 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. John was born, October 12, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to John J. and Jane Sloansciewicz Wensorski. He attended Chadsey High School in Detroit. John joined the army in 1955 and retired in 1978. He won many honors and medals and retired as a Command Sgt. Major, with a Legion of Merit. John attended Cameron University and Oklahoma State University, receiving his Masters Degree in Historic Preservation. He was a 4.0 student in Who’s Who in 1981 and was a Phi Kappa Phi Scholar. He taught History & Geography at Cameron University for 15 years, retiring in 1998. He was a generous and loving husband of 49 years to Rita (Lee) Wensorski. They married in 1960 in Gatesville, Texas. John was an avid HO scale model railroader. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and her husband. Survivors include his wife; Rita (Lee) Wensorski and ten nieces and nephews.
