Mike Kaibas, age 73 of Gatesville, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his home. Private committal services will be held with full military honors at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center. Mike was born on February 19, 1942 in New London, CT. He was the son of the late Michael Charles and Margaret Kovach Kaibas. He grew up in Liberty Township, Ohio. He attended Youngstown University and entered the US Army in 1963. He married Mary Lou Boyer December 28, 1963. He served in the Army for 20 years, retiring from Ft. Hood as Sgt. First Class in 1983. He then worked for TDCJ, mainly at the Mountain View Unit, retiring after 20 years of service. In later years, he worked proudly beside his son and son-in-law at Kaibas Machine and Tool. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 42. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sue Kaibas. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou; son, Michael Kaibas, III and wife, Lisa of Gatesville; daughters, Michelle Hart and husband, Chris of Splendora, Margaret Dunahoo and husband, David of Gatesville; sister, Shirley Capparell of Howland, Ohio; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel and Rianna Dunahoo, Christina and Michael Lee Hart and Michael Kaibas, IV.
