J. W. "Jake" Erwin

J. W. “Jake” Erwin, age 93, of Gatesville passed away, Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Perry Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Jake was born on November 16, 1921 in Evant, Texas to the late William Erwin and Beulah Boyd Erwin. He grew up on a farm in Evant and joined the Navy during WWII. After the war, he began a carpenter business. He married Juanita in 1947 in Gatesville. Jake was an excellent carpenter and could build anything from the ground up. He enjoyed life and always said he would “live until he died.” Jake was loved by all. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Jake is survived by his wife, Juanita Erwin; son, Gary Erwin and wife, Sandra; daughter, Debbie Bonham; eight grandchildren, Thomas Erwin, Majel Glasscock, Jerrad Erwin, Nathan Bonham, Jennifer Davis, Jason Erwin, Emily Smith, and Natalie Erwin; and nine great-grandchildren.
