Patrick H. McKay, MD, a lifelong resident of San Antonio, born July 10, 1924, passed away January 27, 2009, after a short illness, at the age of 84. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1942. Pat then went on to proudly serve in the US Army from 1942 to 1946. He fought in the Pacific Theater and was in Japan with the Army of Occupation. He was a member of the Bushmasters who fought in the Pacific in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star and numerous other medals. After the war, Pat graduated from UT Austin and then UT Medical Branch-Galveston in 1952. He completed his internship at Santa Rosa Hospital, practiced medicine in Gatesville from 1953 to 1955, and then returned to San Antonio to open a private practice and retired in 1998 from general practice medicine. He was one of the original staff physicians with the Methodist Hospital in 1965. Dr. Pat loved spending his leisure time at Medina Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Margaret McKay; brother, Judge James A. McKay, Jr.; and sister, Betty Mann. Dr. Pat is lovingly survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Martha Brown McKay; children, Patrick McKay, Jr. and wife, Shelley, Connie McKay Wilke and husband, Dr. Paul Wilke, Dr. Claire McKay Hart and husband, Dr. Curtis Hart, Alice McKay Orsini and husband, Ron, and Ruthie McKay Diharce and husband, Mike; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. SERVICE THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 2009 2:00 P.M. PORTER LORING NORTH CHAPEL Interment will be held in the Gatesville City Cemetery, Gatesville, Texas on Friday, January 30 2009 at 11AM.
