Virgil Lee Price, age 88, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015. Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Virgil was born on April 25, 1927 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Rollo Price and Nita Wheat Price. Virgil graduated from Evant High School in 1945. He attended Louisiana State University. Virgil married Lola Fisher in 1946. He was employed and retired from the oil refining industry. He lived and worked in several countries. Virgil started as a manual laborer for the oil refining business in Baton Rouge, and then began his world experiences in oil refining startups beginning with India, Venezuela, Spain, Lebanon, Columbia, Canada, Aruba, Bahamas, and retired as vice president of Pride Refinery in Abilene, Texas. Virgil was a Mason; he was a member of three local Lodges #197 Gatesville, #550 Beehouse in Evant, and #791 Maples in Flat. He worked extensively with new lodge members. Virgil was a private pilot, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards with his grand kids, hunting, dominos and tinkering with his wood working tools in his shop. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Charles Steven. Virgil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lola Fisher Price; children, Brenda G. Price, Donna K. Crouch and husband, Larry; 6 grandchildren – Jacob Carter, Tamisha Carter, Jimmy Horan, Bill Horan, Kevin Fredrick, Atira Crouch; and 5 great grandchildren.
