Al Pearce, age 64 of Gatesville, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 17, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Matt Richard officiating. There is no set time for visitation. Al was born on August 29, 1950 in Gatesville, to the late Cecil and Lola Mae Tennison Pearce. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1970 and was very involved in the band, serving as assistant Drum Major. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam. He was an accomplished actor and dancer and had a love for theatre arts, playing roles in numerous productions throughout central Texas. He was also casted as an extra in “JFK”, “Johnny Be Good” and “Dallas – The Early Years”. He owned and operated House of Al salon, for nearly 40 years. He also had a love for the water and spent many years as a water safety instructor as well as being a certified scuba diver. Al had a love for the white sand beaches of Cancun. Since 1984, he has ritually spent the last 30 years vacationing at his time-share there. He was a devoted Texas A&M fan and was an usher at all of the home games at Kyle Field for 30 years, without missing a single event. He worked for TDCJ for 10 years at the Hughes Unit. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. Al was admired throughout his lifetime, locally and abroad and will be missed by his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Pearce and Lola Mae Lam; sister, Sandra Kay Moore; brother, Terry Pearce. He is survived by his sister, Patsy Elliston; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Michelli Lee, Melissa Mauney, Jakie Ayers, Angie Martin, Terry Pearce, Jr. and John Pearce; and many great nieces and nephews.
