Veta Faye Hanes, age 90, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Bee House Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Veta was born on May 5, 1925 in Lampasas County, Texas to the late Noah Ervin Clark and Cornelia Archie Clark. She attended school in Lometa and Pearl schools. She married Grady Wayne Hanes on June 27, 1942 in Pearl, Texas. To this union, one daughter was born, Linda Faye Hanes on July 19, 1946. They made their home in the Pearl-Bee House community until moving to Gatesville in 1987. Veta was employed as a sales clerk at Evant Drug, retiring in 1984. She loved flowers and liked to play 84, at the time of her death she was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grady Hanes; daughter, Linda Faye Perkins; son-in-law, Robert Perkins; granddaughters, Cindy Chiree Perkins and Kristie Michelle Perkins; and sisters, Helen Ross, Iona Adams, Iva Rue Jackson, and Mildred Potts. Veta is survived by her nephews, Dr. Franklin Potts, Dr. Tommie Potts, and Clark Jackson.
