L. J. Autrey

L. J. Autrey, age 85, of Gatesville passed away in Clifton on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Restland Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. L. J. was born on March 31, 1930 in the Turnover community of Coryell County, Texas, now part of Ft. Hood. He was the son of the late E. L. Autrey and Ada Carothers Autrey. He married Naomi Voss on August 20, 1948 in Jonesboro. They resided in Waco and Amarillo before moving back to Gatesville in 1991. He worked at I.B.M. for 36 years in Waco and Amarillo until he retired in 1987. He was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church of Waco. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Autrey on June 6, 2014. L. J. is survived by his sons, Jim Autrey and wife, Paula of Turnersville and Rick Autrey and wife, Janice of Burnet, grandchildren, Lance Autrey, Tim Autrey, Trey Autrey, and Sherry Elsberry; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
