John Henry Weaver

John Henry Weaver, age 82, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Hamilton. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Gatesville. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Mr. Weaver was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Jonesboro, the son of Melvin Vaughn and Ruby Allen Holloway Weaver. He was married to Norma Jo Brumley on March 5, 1955, and they were married for 60 years. He graduated from Jonesboro High School and received degrees from Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored churches at White Hall, Waxahachie, Wisconsin, Hamilton, Jonesboro, Pearl, Mountain, Evant and Lampasas and served as a supply and interim pastor for churches throughout the area. He farmed the family home place in Jonesboro for many years and with Norma raised five wonderful children. He loved his family and serving God. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Laura Allen Weaver Weatherford. Survivors include wife, Norma Weaver; five children, James Weaver and wife, Maria of Hamilton, Julie Weaver Patterson and husband, Michael of Crawford, Joel Weaver and wife, Joanne of Georgetown, Jana Weaver Cain and husband, Frank of San Clemente, California and Jennifer Weaver Ragsdale and husband, James of Gatesville; siblings, Mary Lou Powell and husband, Robert of Gatesville, Jane Potter and husband, Tom of Palestine, Tecumseh “Tunk” Weaver and wife, Pat of Manchaca and Robert Weaver of Everman; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
