Doug Dyer

John Douglas Dyer, Sr., age 62, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Doug was born on March 11, 1953 in Gatesville, Texas to Ray Lewis Dyer and Jannette Buster Dyer. He attended school in Gatesville. He worked in construction all his life, as well as farming with his brother Jan. He had a “green thumb” and enjoyed gardening. He was a good cook and loved to make pies. Doug was known for his generosity, he would give you the shirt off his back. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Emmett Ray Dyer; and the mother of his children, Frieda Benedict. Doug is survived by his daughter, Nicole Trero and husband, Samuel of Beaumont; son, John Dyer, Jr. of Gatesville; sister, Brenda Shoults of Flat; brothers, Jan Dyer and wife, Sharon of South Mountain and Bill Tom Dyer of Gatesville; grandchildren, Tristin, Victoria, and Kason; nieces, Tami Pearce and Lisa Washburn; and nephews, Keith Sheets, Waylon Dyer, Casey Jones, and Steve Dyer.
