Faye W. Thorp, age 87, of Gatesville passed away Monday, September 28, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Blanco City Cemetery in Blanco, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the funeral home. Faye was born in Barksdale Texas to Minnie Ivory Brown and Walter Alvin Waddell. Faye went to Blanco High School and graduated May 17, 1945. She married the love of her life, Maurice Thorp, Sr., on September 22, 1945. They moved to Gatesville in January of 1951. She retired from Texas Department of Corrections. Faye managed her RV Park for over thirty years until her illness. Faye loved to cook and was known for her pies which were wonderful. One of her favorite pass times was playing the fiddle and getting together with her friends to play music. She loved the outdoors and much preferred to be outside. Her family ran a Girl Scout camp when she was young and those days were her greatest adventures. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a wonderful gift to her family and will be deeply missed. Faye gave of herself to everyone and left a special message in each of our hearts. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband and one grandchild, Trey Thorp. She is survived by one sister, Beverly Modgling and husband, Hank of Medina Texas; children, Maurice (Butch) Thorp and wife, Diane of Gatesville Texas, Ramona Thorp of Austin, Texas, and Pam Mettlach and husband, Len of Gatesville, Texas; six grandchildren, Jerry Wright, Christi Smalley, Audrea Beckett, Jessica Parr, Clint Mettlach, and Melody Furr; 13 great-grandchildren, Ashten, Kelsie, Jordy, Payden, Jake, Jace, Lexie, Cade, Jaxson, Zoey, Hannah, Levi, and Jaxson; and one great-great-grandchild, Isaiah.
