Charles Williams, 75, of Gatesville went to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 17, 2015 at King Baptist Church. Charles was born on October 27, 1939 in Crosbyton, Texas to the late Marvin and Athalee Potter Williams. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1958. After high school he attended North Texas State University before joining the United States Army where he served with the 49th Armored Division. Charles married June Hitt on September 27, 1962 in Gatesville where they made their home most of their lives. He was a master woodworker and craftsman with a keen ability to transform ordinary materials into something functional and beautiful. Charles was a member and longtime deacon at King Baptist Church. He loved to farm & ranch, loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family. Charles and June celebrated 53 years of marriage and loved traveling and enjoying quiet times at the compound. Charles always owned a horse and believed what Winston Churchill said, "Something about the outside of a horse was good for the inside of a man." Charles was preceded in death by his parents Cap and Athalee Williams, daughter, Amanda June Williams; grandson, Ty Williams. Charles is survived by his wife June Williams; children, Curtis Williams and wife, Melinda, Caron McDaniel and husband, Bill, Brandy Graves and husband, Kyle; sisters, Wanda Lary, Dolores Davis; 4 grandchildren, Robert Williams, Marlee McDaniel, Cheyenne Swift, Charlee Williams and 4 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King Cemetery Association or Country Lane Baptist Church.
