Pauline Sneed Sutton

Pauline Sneed Sutton, age 88, of Tallassee, Alabama formerly of Gatesville, Texas passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015. Graveside services will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Murphree Cemetery in Evant. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the funeral home. Pauline was born in Evant, Texas on March 12, 1927, to George B. Sneed and Emma (Reed) Sneed. She attended school in Evant. On December 6, 1943, she married Floyd L. Sutton while he was in the army. Her teacher, Mr. Harper, performed the ceremony. She and Floyd moved to Gatesville in 1946 when he returned from services in the U.S. Army during World War II. They lived in/around the Gatesville area the rest of their married lives. In 2011, Pauline moved to Tallassee, Alabama, to live with her son, Glen Sutton. While Floyd was in the army, Pauline worked in the cotton mill in Hope Mills, North Carolina, where she made twill for the uniforms of the soldiers. After the war, she worked in Gatesville at Meeks Café, Northern Propane, John Deere, and the Coca-Cola office. Pauline was past-president and past-secretary of the Gatesville Riding Club. She worked as a volunteer at Coryell Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gatesville where she taught in the children’s Sunday school department and worked in vacation Bible school. Pauline enjoyed quilting, sports (especially football), and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was blessed with a loving family, some of the best friends in the world, and good neighbors. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Floyd Sutton. She is survived by her son, Floyd A. Sutton and his wife, Denise of Gatesville, TX; her son, Glen E. Sutton and his wife, Debbie of Tallassee, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Ricky Sutton of Gatesville, TX, Shane Sutton and his wife, Robin of Gatesville, TX, Claressa (Sutton) Norrell of Dallas, TX, Allen Sutton and his wife, Carol, of Wake Forest, NC, Donitia (Sutton) Smith and her husband, J.T. of Oolaga, OK, Shannon Sutton and his wife, Jalean, of Gatesville, TX, Chris Sutton of Gatesville, TX, Jennifer Osborne and her husband, Stephen, of Tallassee, AL; 13 great-grandchildren: Shaley Sutton, Brook-lyn Sutton, Noah Sutton, Haylee Osborne, Grace Sutton, Anslee Osborne, Cooper Sutton, Rylee Smith, Reagan Smith, Tyler Sutton, Marlee Osborne, Charlene Sutton, and Rylan Osborne.
