Drue DeWayne Woods, age 73, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gatesville. Burial will follow at 12:00 Noon at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Drue was born on May 19, 1942 to the late William Vernon Woods and Alice McBride in Burkburnett, Texas. He graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, New Mexico in 1960. He joined the US Army, and in the following 20 years he went to Vietnam three times, spent three years on Taiwan, and was also assigned to Okinawa and Hawaii. In 1963, he married Jane Earlene Clark. They had two daughters, Janice Earlene and Shelley Lorraine. They divorced, and he then married Linda Sharon Bean. They had three children, Aimee Sharon, Jonathan Andrew, and Linda Joyce. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. He worked for the Dept. of the Army and returned to Texas in 1992. He was actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and taught his last Sunday lesson two days prior to his death. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth William Woods. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sharon Woods of Mound; two sisters, Tenesa Madsen of Colorado and Verna Nelson of North Dakota; children, Janice Earlene of Omaha, Nebraska and her two daughters, Amber and Christina; Shelley Lorraine; Aimee Burr and her husband, Steven of Alabama and their two children, Alexxander and Kaitlynn; Jonathan; and Linda Joyce of Gatesville and her four children, Emily, Benjamin, Rebekah, and Hannah.
