Effie "Peggy" Thompson

Peggy Thompson, age 90, of Gatesville passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 9, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Crosby officiating. Burial will follow at the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Peggy was born on May 18, 1925 in Gatesville to the late Ben and Effie Rankin Henson. She attended school in Gatesville before marrying Red Thompson in her parents’ home on August 30, 1941. She was a devoted wife, mother and took pride in being an Avon Representative for many years. Peggy enjoyed working her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas Ray Thompson, Jr.; sisters, Ann Jameson, Bit Hale, Kate Martin, Tad Barton; brothers, Dub Henson and Ed Henson. Peggy is survived by her daughter in law, Shirley Thompson of Gatesville; her brother, Rebel J. Henson and many nieces and nephews.
