Glendel Earl McCarver

Glen McCarver, age 80, of Gatesville passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 20, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Wheat officiating with burial following at the McCarver Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Glen was born on August 2, 1935 in Coryell County to the late Lawrence and Maedell Pollard McCarver. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1953. After high school, he worked for the Highway Department before joining the United States Navy and served for almost 2 years. After serving our country, he worked as the manager of Interstate Financial Company in Killeen for many years. He also worked as a private detective for a law firm in Killeen. Glen enjoyed his farm and raising cattle most of his life in Gatesville. Glen married Jerry Thomson on July 17, 1970 in Killeen. Glen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, J.L. McCarver. Glen is survived by his wife, Jerry McCarver; sons, Terry McCarver and wife, Linda, Tim McCarver, and Rodney Hanson; siblings, Sue Hodges, Linda McClure, and Gary McCarver; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
