Charles Ivy, age 65, of Gatesville, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 in Gatesville. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM. Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at The First United Methodist Church. Private family interment will follow at Davidson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the Funeral Home. Charles was born on April 15, 1950 in Gatesville, to Nathile (Sims) and the late Loyd Ivy. He was a proud graduate of Gatesville High School and received his BBA from Baylor University. Charles married Melinda Anderson on September 17, 1977, and together they raised two sons. He began his career in the banking field with the National Bank of Gatesville while he was in high school and continued there after college graduation. In 1978, he and Melinda joined his parents in partnership at the Western Auto Store in Gatesville, which they operated for the next 18 years. He returned to the banking field in 1990 with Guaranty Bank and Trust Company / Extraco Banks and in 2005 moved into his current position as the Manager of Educators Credit Union. He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church, including many years as Lay Leader, serving in the Methodist Men and teaching the Don Allison Fellowship Class. He served his community in many capacities, including coaching Little League, serving on the Coryell County Child Welfare Board and serving for over 20 years as President of the Board of Directors of the Gatesville Care Center. He is survived by his wife Melinda; his son Scott Ivy and wife Deanna, of Belton; his son Alan Ivy and wife Amy, of Gatesville; 3 grandchildren: Quinton, Coralise, and Harrison; his mother Nathile Ivy, of Gatesville; and his sister Melba Gailey and husband Jim, of McGregor; all of whom miss him very much.
