Myrtle Kitchens

Mrs. Myrtle Kitchens, 97 of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in a local nursing center. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 24th at 10:00 A.M. at Scotts Funeral Home with Deral McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kitchens was born on February 5, 1912 in Rogers, TX to the late Thomas Arthur and Maude Aries Graham Kellogg. Mrs. Kitchens was raised and attended school in Coryell County. She married Irvin Kitchens in 1933 and they worked together farming and ranching. She enjoyed sewing and gardening, but especially loved caring for their livestock. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by her son, Gerald Kitchens and wife Bonnie of Gatesville; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cedar Ridge Church of Christ.
