Gayle M. Pruett, age 89, of Gatesville, passed away March 23, 2009 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled for 4:30 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Ater Cemetery. Mr. Pruett was born August 1, 1919 in Ater, Texas. He was the son of Otis Pruett and Buelah Moreland Pruett. He attended school at Ater and finished at Jonesboro. Gayle married Gladys Schofield and they were married for 55 years. He attended one year at John Tarleton and he retired in 1982 from the Halliburton Oil Company after 42 years. Gayle was a member of the Masonic Lodge #197 in Gatesville and he served during World War II as a member of the 7th army, 96 Chemical Division, serving in Germany, France & Austria. Gayle was a farmer and rancher for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys in 1995 and his parents. Survivors include daughter, Lana Sperring and husband Rob; sons, Gayle Pruett; and two grandchildren, Jayme and Trey Sperring. Memorials may be made to the Ater Cemetery Association.
