Floella (Flo) Lightsey, 76 of Jonesboro, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at a local hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 25th at the Jonesboro Baptist Church with Rev. Miles Miears officiating. Burial will follow at the Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Scott’s Funeral Home. Flo was born on November 12, 1932 in Lawton Oklahoma to the late Felix Jefferson and Emilee Jewel Rawlinson Dean. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1950 and worked as a telephone operator. In 1954 she married Henderson (Red) Miller and they moved to West Texas where Ronnie, Jeff, and Connie were born. Red preceded her in death in March 1966. On November 22, 1966 she married Joe Lightsey and a year later they moved to Jonesboro, TX. In Jonesboro she was a homemaker and volunteered as a room mother at the school that her children attended. Later Flo worked in the special education department, at Evan’s Specialty in Cransfill Gap, and as a librarian at the school. In her retirement Flo loved to spend time helping Joe on the ranch, playing games with her grandchildren, working with her flowers, and cooking for her family. Flo loved life, a good joke, and country music. She and her family spent many good times together. Flo also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren at sporting events. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Red; her son Jeff Miller; brother, Bill Dean; and sister Erma Elkins. She is survived by her husband, Joe Lightsey; son, Ronnie Miller; daughter, Connie Woodson and husband Gary; brothers, Paul Dean, Kenneth Dean, and Jimmy Dean; three grandchildren, Julie Miller and fiancée Mike, Tim Miller and fiancée Ashley, and Josh Miller and his mother Gail Miller. Memorials may be made to the Jonesboro Baptist Church or the Jonesboro Cemetery Association.
