Ross E. (Sandy) Sandhoff, Sr., age 91, of Gatesville passed away Monday, December 14, 2015. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. At 2:00 p.m., a procession will lead to the graveside service which begins at 2:30 p.m. at Harris Creek Cemetery in McGregor. Sandy was born on July 19, 1924 in McGregor, Texas to the late August Sandhoff and Nola Boren Sandhoff. He attended school in Crawford. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He operated the radar in London, England. When the “buzz” bombs were sent from Germany, Sandy told the men when to shoot and saved many lives. He married Marilyn Bray on December 7, 1946. He worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company for 35 years. He enjoyed gardening and raising donkeys at his places, Happy Oaks and Wildwood. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, W.O. Sandhoff, Ralph Sandhoff; and sister, Frances Juntunen. Sandy is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Pam Wolske and husband, Donald, a devoted son-in-law, of Gatesville; son, Ross (Buddy) Sandhoff, Jr. and wife, Linda of South Bosque; grandchildren, Lisa Barnard and husband, Ron, Trey Sandhoff, Lori Sandhoff Gammage and husband, Charles; great-grandchildren, Dalton Barnard, Bailey Barnard, Braydie Barnard, and Lucas Gammage; brothers, Bill Sandhoff and wife, Nell, Donald Sandhoff and wife, Allene, Jackie Sandhoff; sister, Janie Wells and husband, Willie, Sue Bullington and husband, Dwight, Nancy Miniger and husband, Craig, and Judy Sandhoff; and many nieces and nephews.
