Alna Cleone Hodges, age 96, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Gatesville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Alna was born on October 7, 1919 in Coryell County, Texas to the late Robert E. Lee White and Fannie Mae Fewell White. For a short time her family lived in Happy, Texas before moving back to Coryell County where she graduated from Pearl High School. On December 2, 1939, she married Clyde Hodges. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to garden and work in her yard, but her passion was genealogy, which included writing three books. She made the best “Cherry Pie” according to her family. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hodges; sons, Dean Hodges and Kent Hodges; and sisters, Zoda, Oma, Irene, and Mildred. Alna is survived by her son, Gary Hodges and wife, Connie of Gatesville; daughter-in-law, Hazel Hodges of Gatesville; grandchildren, Sherry Nichols and husband, Wiley, Tammy Riddle and husband, Brian, Melissa Tull, Zach Hodges and wife, Valorie, Cindy Tippit and husband, Dee, Curtis Hodges, Ben Hodges, Anita Hodges, and Lacy Ware and husband, Cody; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
