Karlee Piller, 28, of Gatesville passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 surrounded by her family. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Visitation with her family will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Karlee was born on August 19, 1987 to Joe and Caroline Piller in Landstuhl, Germany while her father was serving in the United States Air Force. She had 12 amazing years in Biloxi, Mississippi where she was the “inspiration” that led to the beginning of The Challenger (Baseball) League in Mississippi. Karlee relocated to Gatesville in 1999. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 2006. She was active in band, cheerleading and also participated in Special Olympics which included power lifting and track. After high school, Karlee volunteered at the Gatesville Boys and Girls Club and the Department of Human Services for many years. Karlee was passionate about her faith, family and her friends. She was a member of Gloryland Church in Waco and helped lead worship. Her faith was evident in her life and she was a magnet for Christ. Karlee is survived by her father, Joe Piller and wife, Janie; mother, Caroline Piller; sisters, Kristine Mansell and husband, Berry, Savannah Backus; brothers, Alex Cardenas, Dylan Arellano; grandparents, Joseph and Helen Piller, Carolyn Richardson; aunts, Diane Heavin and husband, Gary, Debbie Piller, Joann Soehnlein and husband, Mark; uncle, Bob Backus; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
