Joe Burt Dillard, Sr., age 84, peacefully passed away January 4, 2016, in Houston, Texas after a brief illness. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, January 8th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Pearl Cemetery in Pearl, Texas. Visitation with the family with be from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at the funeral home. He was born September 4, 1931 in the small town of Lueders, Texas. He was the dear son of the late Anna Mae Edmonson and Robert S. Dillard, Sr. Joe was the beloved husband and only love of 61 years to Cordie Mae (Farr) Dillard. Joe graduated from Andrews High School in 1949. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War (1951-1953) and returned to Andrews, TX. He was employed by W.A. Farmer Construction before spending over 30 years with Shell Oil Company in Andrews, Midland, and Traverse City, Michigan prior to retiring from Shell. He continued working as a consultant in the oil industry until 2012. Joe thoroughly enjoyed spending time at his son’s ranch tinkering in the barn and checking the livestock. His memory will live on in the hearts of family and friends forever. He was preceded in death by brother, Robert S. Dillard, Jr. Joe was the devoted father to sons, Joe Jr. and wife, Elise, of Katy, Texas and Charles and wife, Ann of Greer, South Carolina. He was the proud grandfather of Dani (Billy) Cronauer, Laura (Jennings) Berry, Beka (Taylor) Gross, Jacob (Shannon) Dillard, and Bradley Dillard. He was also the great-grandfather of Brinley Cronauer and Matthew Berry. He is also survived by his brother, James H. and wife, Maria, of Andrews, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
