Luke Randolph Rampy, Jr.

Luke Randolph Rampy, Jr., age 83, of Gatesville passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 11, 2016 at Coryell Community Church with Rev. Terry Hill officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m on Sunday at Scott’s Funeral Home. Luke was born on August 15, 1932 in Lubbock, Texas to Luke Rampy, Sr. and Myrtle Modgling Rampy. He attended high school at Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, TX and attended Texas Tech for several years. Luke joined the United States Navy in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1953. During his time in the Navy, he received ribbons from service in China and Korea and two battle stars for service during his time in Formosa, Philippines and Japan. Luke was in the commercial roofing business in El Paso, Texas for 45 years and was the owner of Frontier Roofing Company. He was an honorary member of Roofing Contractors of Texas, and a member of Roofing Consultants of Texas. He was the first president of Associated Builders and Contractors and Vice president of the State Builders Association. He was a past member of the Board of Governors of the Shriners Burn Hospital in Galveston. He was also a past member of the El Paso Sheriff’s Posse and a life member of the American Legion and Yellow House Lodge in Lubbock, Texas. On November 4, 1983, Luke married Sondra Pawley in El Paso, Texas. In 2010, Luke gave his life to the Lord and was a member of Coryell Community Church. He was also an avid fisherman and a competition shooter. Luke also won many medals for shooting clay pigeons in competition. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Donna Birkman and a daughter, Brooke Rampy. Luke is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Sondra Rampy; children, Kimberli Pereira, Kalah McGraw and husband, Kirk, Luke Rampy, III, and wife, Angela, Nicole Russell, Stacy Pawley, Randy Krahenbuhl and wife, Terri; and eight grandchildren.
