Jesse Edward Browning, 94, of Gatesville, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Doug Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at the King Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Browning was born on January 6, 1915 in Cameron, TX, in Milam County to the late Tom and Lou Williams Browning. He grew up an attended school in Coryell County. He married Ola Pearl Dyson on October 10, 1936. She preceded him in death in 2004. Jesse was a WWII Veteran, having served both in the US Navy and the US Army. He and his wife lived many years in Arlington, TX where he worked for Six Flags Over Texas until his retirement in 1978. They moved back to Gatesville where he worked for the Gatesville Public School System until his retirement in 1997. He was a big man with a heart as big as Texas and was loved by all who knew him. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all. We all loved for him to play his harmonica, especially the Orange Blossom Special. He is survived by his three children, LouDelle Blanchard of Levita, Linda Hipp and husband Aubrey of Keswick, Virginia, and Edward Browning and wife Barbara of Gatesville; one brother, Wesley Browning of California; 10 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends. The family deeply appreciates the loving care of the VistaCare Hospice team, Penny, Renee, Katy, Doug, and special thanks to Sharon for her compassion to ease Jesse’s transition into Heaven. Special thanks also to Edward and Barbara for the years of care they gave him at home.
