Paul Leslie Franks, age 63, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 after a two year battle with cancer. Private services will be held by the family at a later date. Paul was born on December 22, 1952 in Gatesville, Texas to Gayle Franks and Ruth Brazzil Franks. He attended Gatesville High School and Central Texas College, graduating top of his class and obtained his peace officer certification. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Paul worked as a police officer in Gatesville and McGregor. He also worked at T.D.C.J. Paul also worked at Franks Saddle Shop in Gatesville throughout his life, where he spent countless hours working alongside his father Gayle. Paul retired from Cargill Farms in Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his father; and step-father, Allen Jones. Paul is survived by his mother, Ruth Jones; daughters, Misty Franks and husband, Scott Deemer, Patches Adair and husband, Will, and Stormi Priddy and husband, Thomas; sisters, Paula Short and Pam Sheets and husband, Buddy; brother, Pat Franks; and Paul’s lifelong companion Theresa L. Franks; four grandchildren Bailey Adair, Hailey Deemer, Paisley Priddy, and Shiloh Priddy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a special man that marched to the beat of his own drum. Paul served his country; he proudly served behind the badge. Paul loved people and never met a stranger. He loved his daily visits to “Pruitt’s” for coffee and conversation. “Ride Cowboy ride, your entry fees have been paid”
