Ruby J. Griffith

Ruby J. Griffith, age 96, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Ruby was born on Jan. 20, 1919 in Meeker, OK. She grew up in Oklahoma and Texas. She moved to Midland in 1934 and married Raymond Griffith in 1937. She worked for many years at Memorial Christian Church in Midland. Her husband preceded her in death in 1984. She moved to Gatesville in 1997. She loved Peacocks and during the time she resided at The Meadows, she was known as the “Peacock Lady”. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmie Griffith; grandson, Raymond Carl Griffith; granddaughter, Heather Brock and 11 brothers and sisters. Ruby is survived by her sons, Dennis Griffith and wife, Peggy, David Griffith and wife, Angela; daughters-in-law, Jeanne Griffith, Nedah Griffith; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
