Evelyn Conner

Evelyn Neely Conner, age 91 of the Bee House community, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 in Granbury. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Evant with Rev. Phyllis Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Bee House Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the church. Evelyn was born on Jan. 9, 1925 in Lometa, to the late Lester and Addie Murphy Neely. She grew up in Lampasas County and graduated from Evant High School. She attended Tarleton State University for two years and before her marriage did secretarial work in Dallas and Gatesville. She married Roy Conner on Sept. 19, 1946 in Evant. They resided their married lives in the Bee House community, operating their ranch and raising seven children. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1992. She was a very active and steadfast member of the Bee House Methodist Church and later the First United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Eric Neely. She is survived by five daughters, Gwen Drennan and husband, John of Los Fresnos, Bonnie Marilyn Carheden and husband, Hakan of Aurora, CO, Barbara Walker and husband, Bob of Granbury, Deborah Fleming and husband, Gary of Granbury, Renee Bourland and husband, Johnny of Tomball; two sons, Douglas Conner of Bee House, David Conner and wife, Elke of Gatesville; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
