Rosalie Blanchard, age 86, of Gatesville passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 15, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 14, 2016. Rosalie Patterson Blanchard (“Pud” to her family) was born to Sam and Dora Patterson October 12, 1929 on the family farm at Hard Bargain Mountain outside Gatesville, Texas. She attended school at Pidcoke, Plainview, and Gatesville. After graduation, she enjoyed working for Gatesville City Hall. Rosalie met Hardy Blanchard of Mound, Texas on a blind date, she fell in love with his smile, and they married March 12, 1949. After their first daughter was born, they moved to Houston where they had two more girls and remained there until retirement. While in Houston, she worked as a kindergarten teacher and as a school secretary for Broadway Baptist School. Rosalie was an excellent cook who enjoyed large family gatherings, especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed her garden, canning, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and was a faithful member of White Mound Baptist Church while living at Mound. Mrs. Blanchard was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hardy Blanchard; and brothers, Robert and George Patterson. She is survived by daughters, Julia (Jimmy) Robinson of Wimberley, Janet (Douglas) Christman of Pearland, and Beverly (Frank) Wallace of Salado; seven grandchildren: Laura Seal, Jim Robinson, Beau Wallace, Jarred Robinson, Amanda Tomlinson, Miles Wallace, and DJ Christman; ten great-grandchildren, Brenden Bowles, Mark Tomlinson, Colton Tomlinson, Katherine Robinson, Levi Wallace, Kylie Seal, Blake Wallace, Camden Wallace, Layton Christman, and Jordyn Robinson; five sisters, Grace Tennison, Mary Lou Derflinger, Dora Jean Dyson, Evelyn Thomas, and Joyce Edmond; and numerous dear nieces, nephews, and other family members. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Mound Baptist Church, P.O. Box 103, Mound, TX 76558.
