Richard Knight (Dick) Wallace, age 81, of Turnersville passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jon Crosby and Rev. Matt Dossey officiating. Burial will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the funeral home. Dick was born on January 6, 1935 in Seymour, Texas to the late S.D. (Buck) and Beulah Knight Wallace. He grew up and attended school in Seymour, Texas, graduating in 1953. He enjoyed playing football and excelled in track. He furthered his education at Texas Tech University, graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Production. Dick married Dixie Blanton Kilpatrick on February 16, 1962, and they made their home in Pancake. Soon after, he and Kermit Miller started M&W Hog Farm. Coming from generations of cattle ranchers, he continued operating the Wallace Family Ranch which was established in 1854. He loved working cattle, bird hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed a good domino or card game. Dick was a member of the Gatesville R.V. Club. He was involved in many civic activities including: Jonesboro School Board, Jonesboro Lions Club, Board of Directors of the Farm & Ranch Co-op, and served as a Jonesboro 4H leader. He faithfully attended church and served as a deacon of Jonesboro, Live Oak, and Turnersville Baptist churches. He was preceded in death by his parents, S.D. and Beulah Wallace; brother, James Wallace; grandson, Justin Lusk; and beloved friend of 60 years, Kermit Miller. Dick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dixie Wallace; son, Wayne Wallace and wife, Linda; daughters, Kathy Smith and husband, Melvin, and Elizabeth Brown and husband, Hurshell; sister, Midge Hammock; eight grandchildren, Brian Lusk and wife, Candace, Travis Lusk, Tyler Wallace and wife, Shawnee, Kate Wiley and husband, Corey, Monica Brown, Grant Brown, Victoria Brown, and Harrison Brown; and five great-grandchildren, Chloe Lusk, Braidy Lusk, Julie Lusk, Benjamin Lusk, and Skylar Wiley.
