Charles K. Smith, age 73, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Charles was born on March 18, 1943 in Leon Junction, Texas, the fourth of three sons and one daughter, born to Calvin and Beatrice Brumbalow Smith. He was raised and attended school in Leon Junction and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1961. On June 2, 1962, Charles married the love of his life, Sue Truelove. Charles and Sue were blessed with almost 54 happy years together. He was a devoted and loving husband and dad, and was always concerned about the provision and happiness of his family. Charles was a carpenter for 40 years and had a great passion for the work he did as well as remodeling his home, building things, and helping others. He loved camping with Sue and hunting and fishing with Keith and Kevin. Charles loved his boys very much and always cherished the time they spent together. Charles accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in November of 2009. He loved the Lord, read his Bible often, and would never miss a meal without first thanking God for His provisions. After the doctor’s informed Charles that he would not recover from his medical condition, he became more anxious every day for his heavenly flight to live with Jesus eternally. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen; and brothers, Delbert and Harvey. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Sue; sons, Keith Smith and wife, Kim of College Station and Kevin Smith and girlfriend, Joann of Kempner; sister, Melba Curtis of Gatesville; and granddaughters, Katie, Brianna, and Hallie. Memorials may be made to Mountain Baptist Church, 6319 E. US Hwy. 84, Gatesville, TX 76528.
