Rex Glenn Tilly

Rex Glenn Tilly, age 82, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at Gatesville Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Rex was born December 5, 1933 in Oliver Springs, Texas to the late Clyde Tilly, Sr. and Mabel Reed Tilly. He attended school at Desdemonia and DeLeon schools, graduating from DeLeon High School. He continued his education at Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, Howard Payne University, and Paul Quinn College. Rex married Billie Jean Weatherford on May 30, 1952 in Dallas, Texas. They moved to Gatesville in the fall of 1969. He preached at numerous churches and was a funeral director for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ricky Tilly in 1977 and Ronald Tilly in 1991; and two brothers, Clyde Tilly, Jr. and Roland Tilly. Rex is survived by his wife of 63 years, Billie Tilly; son, Robert Tilly and wife, Tia; daughter, Glenna Riggs and husband, George; grandchildren, Rocky Tilly and wife, Cally, Ryan Tilly and wife, Crystal, and Luke Tilly; and great-grandchild, Cory Tilly.
